Hi Jazz. It doesn't matter now because they just picked it up and paid my bench fee. I still have some questions about transistors. Can't you check the voltage at the base or the gate depending what you have like you can a 6l6 tube? Shouldn't that voltage be in the negative range? I remember something about a silicon transistor measuring between .500 and .700 mv. But which legs do you measure. base to collector? And do you measure with the unit powered on or do you use your diode check function on your meter? And can you test a Mosfet or an Igfet the same way? I am interested in how they work even though they puzzle me sometimes. Thanks

Dear catstrat, the depth of your questions goes beyond what can be answered in a Forum thread.
I suggest you take some SS Electronics course which will present things in due order and will give you a solid knowledge.
Really canīt suggest a specific one but probably others can chime in.

Hi JM. That would the best choice. However i'm already about to retire. I'm almost 61 years old and truthfully i'm starting to look at not doing anything much when i do retire. Who knows. A electronics course might be something to do. I believe the more knowledge we have ,the better we'll be. Thanks everyone for the help on this amp.

I came across this transistor tutorial & thought of your request for more info.

I hope it is somewhat helpfull.

Thanks so much. I'll check it out as soon as i can free up some time. The majority of SS amps i get in always seem to be an output problem. It will make me a better tech if i know more about these componants.
