Have a mic, mixer, and headphones at the ready. When it starts buzzing, have a friend put the phones on and move the mic from speaker to speaker to locate the buzz.

Look for the simple stuff first - are the tinsel leads from the VC positioned properly and not rubbing on the diaphragm? Has the magnet come loose from the basket? You don't need a klippel system to find the simple stuff and as mentioned a good audio osc with the ability to sweep from 20 -20KHz is very useful. A stethoscope is also great for "listening" for air leaks in a sealed enclosure or a chuffing (poorly vented) driver.
