  • Mesa maverick optocoupler issue

    Hi,

I've a mesa maverick in for repair that I've got an issue with.

The amp came with what seemed like a fairly standard problem - The drive channel was bleeding into the clean. It wasn't happening straight away, but if you left the amp runnign for 20mins or so there'd be a pop and then the problem would start.

I suspected the opto couplers, so I replaced all 4 parts. The parts in the amp were 3x VTL5C9 and one rogue part that appears to be NSL 37V31. The NSl and one of the 5C9s looked like they're be changed before.

The mesa maverick schematic showed VTL5C2s so I used these as replacement parts. They have a slightly different current rating.

However the amp not has a nasty whine that changes with the position of the master volume of either of the channel knobs.

Can anybody suggest where I've messed up? I've had the amp for over a month now, so I'm feeling a bit guilty about it!

    Thanks,
Working...
