  • EH English Muff'n torroidal power trans

    Hey,
Anyone ever replace the internal torroidal power transformer in the Electro Harmonix English Muff'n
    tube overdrive/distortion pedal?

This one is blown, it looks like it takes two 10v inputs to provide 280v ac output.

I contacted New Sensor, as I have an account with them.
We'll see if they sell a replacement.

    Thanks.

Sure sounds like a custom wind to me.
Let us know how you make out with NS.

14VAC input, 287VDC at the cap.
So we need 14VAC to 210VAC, or we can use a 240VAC to 16VAC transformer, most likely we can just use a 18V to 240V transformer, or even an 15V to 240V transformer to fix this.
15V and 18V should be fairly common secondary voltages & easy to get. Just match the size of the toroid & you are good to go.
A 15V transformer will give you 300VDC, and 18V transformer will give you 250VDC

          Wow, Thanks!

That's just about exact, same size, looks the same except for color!

          Should work fine.
