Not exactly "matched" now are they?
No they are not.....but that is what they are supposed to be.....a matched set.....apparently the owner was also told that you couldn't use just any matched set....due to the high plate voltage....so he had to wait for a few months for these to come in....

      Whatever.
      No biggy.

With a 1KHz signal, is there Any discernable crossover notch at low output levels?

      If not, let her rip.
      See how it actually 'sounds'.

I'll check that....and let you know....Gift wrapping time....I also have some spare EL34's which I was going to install just to see if there were any that could be matched to each other....but the voltage caution has me wondering..........and they are a mixture of different brands......don't really know if it makes any difference.......then I would have a couple of used matched sets....anyway........Merry Christmas......(are we allowed to say that anymore).........and Happy New Year everybody!!

Checked that out...couldn't see anything....I did check the current draw of the one good original tube....17ma approx.... so i guess the new tubes don't draw what the original ones do....so I plugged my Les Paul into it and like you said....Let her rip......sounded great.....So I am going to send it back to the owner.......Thanks for all the help......
          Cheers,
          Bernie

Thanks for posting the bias reading of the original Bernie, good for reference. Should the owner notice any difference in tone, you can always increase to the 17mA level. Otherwise, he should probably get longer life at the lower setting.

actually, the readings on the new tubes are as high as they will go....if I put a different set on tubes in, the bias current will change....I can decrease it with the bias pot but can't make it higher...I also tried a strat through it as well and cranked it for abit....sounds good to me....
              Cheers....

Did you get an actual reading on the bias pins?

I have the Ubershall schematic & it shows -47Vdc with the same 524Vdc B+.

I want to say that I was told so set it at 35ma after running it near clip for 5 minutes. (Cranking up the bias should pull the B+ down a fair bit, but make sure that 35 is appropriate for the "new" B+.)
