  • Fender Stage 1000 footswitching problem

Fender Stage 1000 with a foot switching issue. The reverb switch turns on and off the digital effects as does the effects switch. All other functions on the amp are normal. Without the foot switch plugged in both DSP and Reverb function normally. Following the schematic test points, I have these results. TP 40, 9.27 volts with eff off, reverb on (should be 4.99V)
9.27 volts with both on. ( should be 7.45)

TP 44, 5.74v with efx off, rvb on (should be 6.41)
5.74v with efx on, rvb on (correct voltage)
All other voltages normal at test points.

So look in the footswitch. There are two branches, the positive current branch is for the FX and reverb.

Ther are five diodes in series, and the switches short across some of them, which the amp circuit can decode. Check all five. Remember, the LEDs are part of the circuit, not just lights.

What do the LEDs do when you click these switches?

Is it the right footswitch? 62191 on the board?
Education is what you're left with after you have forgotten what you have learned.

Hi, Enzo. I forgot to mention that the reverb LED does NOT light when the switch is activated. The board is a 62191.

Replaced the reverb LED and switching works great now. I was not aware that the LED was actually a part of the switching circuit. Thanks for the tip, Enzo. As always, you da man!
