  • Ampeg b200r rattling fix?

So I've been working on this b200r and have got it all back going and together but I now notice there's a rattle in the cabinet it seems. I know a lot of people have had this problem, anyone suggest where to start with getting rid of it. I have tightened speaker screws and chassis screws with no luck.

    Thanks

Remove the amp from the cabinet & then run it.

If the rattle is gone then it's a chassis issue.

Either something in the chassis (heat sink?) or the cheesy way that it is mounted.

There's not much you can do. It's a known design issue with the B-200R that eventually lead to the amp being discontinued. From the rear of the amp, look to the bottom left corner...do you see a crack in the chassis forming? The weight of the power transformer and vibrations causes the chassis to come apart. What you're hearing is the buzzing of that broken piece of the chassis vibrating.
