  • Mesa Triple Rectifier 3 Channel (2000 PCB) noise issue ? (Hum & Buzz)

    Hello,

    I have a question .

Some weeks ago I bought a used Triple Rectifier together with a 4x12 Oversized cab for relly cheap.
The Rectifier was defect, eating up the fuses.
First investigating showed several defect power tubes and obviusly arcing between the 4 diodes localized in the center of the amp.

    The board is from 2000

After replacing the power tubes and remove the arc the amp ran fine.

Now, a while later, the amp still works fine, but I am wondering about the noise level. It is a mixture from hum and crackling fssssss.
Honestly, it is not loud. When the amp is played, it is not a reasonable level.

Of course I changed several preamp tubes. To make diagnostic easier, I set the amp to disabled loop, so the loudness is only controlled by the 3 Masters.

    Symtoms:

    - All 3 channels affected
    - independent from gain level, even with gain at zero this noise is to hear. Only the master knob affects here (Settings diode rectifier, Bold, loop disabled).
    - the whole area around V2 seems microphonic. I tried for shure a lot of different tubes at that place, loudest is when i tick at pins 1,2,3 of that tube but also when I tick at a relais or several condensators in that region.
    - Master Vol (each channel) Zero - no noise, V2 removed - no noise, Master at 8 o clock - not much. master from 10-17 o'clock, annoying hum and buzz - but max level is bearable, this check can be done in the evening without neighbours knocking on my door :-) I guess at level 10 o clock my ears would bleed already :-)

    Any hints ?

    Thank you.
