    That is quite possible, the hum now is not terrible like it was, so I am pretty sure that the one diode WAS bad since the terrible part went away after replacing it. It just seems weird that they test different now than what the "good" one did before. The grounding part is how I got on the R5 and R102 to start with, since that seems to be some sort of a grounding circuit. It is possible that the lesser sounding hum I have now is from a crappy designed ground setup or partly from the power transformer itself, but I of course am just trying to be thorough with the board since resistors and diodes are cheap and the transformer is not.

      Yes, they are the right way and they are 3.3v zener diodes.

        I'm working on the VC5310 now ,and wish I could get the noise down on it. It could also be a jack issue from what I've heard.
