  • Silvertone 1340. Broken, Lost and Confused

I was given a 1340. Awesome! But it's a messy mess. I got a 3 prong cord on it before anything else than tried to resolder all the wires and resistors that had been disconnected for whatever reason. There wasn't much but... I cannot find a schematic anywhere and there are a few things that are confusing me.

From pin 8 of the 5y3gt rectifier there's a cap that's too worn to tell the value of tied to the plate of the 6v6. Why?

Neither lead of the OT is connected. One goes to the plate, obviously, and the other to the B+. So I soldered it in before the 1k resistor that's in series to the electro caps, and it's frying the resistor.

Does anyone have a schematic for this? I have googled it. It's not out there. Anyone knows why the rectifier is tied to the plate of the power tube?

Try looking at the schematic for the 1301, it should be similar to what you have there. Three tube, single ended power tube.

If there has been that much done to the amp, don't trust anything that is already connected. The previous person doing the earlier work may have connected things wrong and you will go nuts trying to find all of the problems, especially if you assume that things are connected correctly.

Here's one of my schematic resources, where under Silvertone, the 1340 ISN'T listed, but it does have the 1300, 1301, 1303, 1306, 1331, 1333, 1344, etc listed.

      I've only worked on the 1474 & 1484 myself.
