  • Traynor YBA-1 Tube Voltage Issues

My YBA-1 has low volume and every note is very distorted. I started to take voltage readings and see problems at V2.

    pin 1 = 398 V
    pin 2 = -6 V
    pin 3 = 5 V
    pin 6 = -.6 V

    etc.

I noticed a resistor going from pin 1 to pin 3 at V2. This resistor is open. I am unable to clearly see this resistor on any schematics. Can anyone tell me what it is for and if it should be there?

    I have attached a pic.

    Thank you. MC

I think you mean from pin1 to pin2 and 6?
It is the 100K R12 shown on this schematic.

The resistor you found that is open is the plate load resistor of pin 6. If it is open as you observed pin 6 will have no plate voltage and no current will flow in that half of the triode (pins 6, 7, 8), so it is essentially turned off.

Yes, you are correct. Thank you for the schematic also!

Replaced the resistor and all is good. Thank you to all for the quick and accurate help!
