Today, on the chassis of a Mesa Mark V, something to take my mind off the dreadful amp - "Thanks Veterans! 11-11-09" and the autograph of the final assembly person, in white ink.
This isn't the future I signed up for.

I worked on one of those about a month ago. It was a GC unit that got damaged in shipping. I know what you mean. It's like the days when they used to see how many people they could fit in a phone both or VW.
Every single one of the plastic standoffs for the circuit board had snapped off inside the amp I repaired. I wasn't gonna even try to remove the board, so I had to remove the broken standoffs and sneak new ones in through the tube socket holes. Not a fun job. On top of that, the IEC connector was in pieces and the chassis had to be straightened. Oh, almost forgot- the top of the cabinet was completely separated from the rest of the cabinet, so I had to rebuild the that, too. By some act of God, the amp worked fine. Just needed some new tubes.

.....and all it needed was some new tubes! Holy Shit! I dread working on Mesa amps. This one sounded like no joy to be had that day!

This Mark V is well taken care of by its owner, and seldom used. Probably has a couple hundred studio hours on it, not a speck of dust. BUT, operator error: he only uses the clean channel, had the power mode switch down in the 10W position, wondered why he couldn't get a good sounding signal out of it. Also had a pre tube that injectect lots of SSSSSHHHHH. With that out of the way, it's ready to rock. Or whatever it is he does, actually sort of avant garde. He's moving to Charlottesville VA soon. Couple of used statues available there cheap. If there's any Mesa friendly techs in that area let me know & I'll pass the info on
