  • 3 prong on ancient record player?

Put this one in the "odd stuff we repair" thread.

Old 60's tube "stereo!" record player, would you put a 3 pronger on it?

No exposed metal parts, but I'm thinking yes for safety.

Yes. It's pretty sure that the output jack grounds are "accessible metal parts" and those ought to be hard-wired to line neutral unless you already know that the insides meet double insulation standards - which, in the 60s, they didn't.

Or, if there are no output jacks, the speaker leads/etc. will be accessible, unless they are purely transformer coupled, and if the trannies will stand 4kV for a minute between primary and secondary.
Amazing!! Who would ever have guessed that someone who villified the evil rich people would begin happily accepting their millions in speaking fees!

Oh, wait! That sounds familiar, somehow.

            Of course, a Magnavox chassis # 80-01-00.
            One 12AX7, two 50 E something 7pin drivers.
The snobs at the Radio Museum have the schem but you have to donate money for it.

Got it working, just cranking some VH on it to the amusement if my son.
