  • B-52 ATX100 Transformer

I've called twice and emailed twice. No response from B-52. Got an ATX100 with a shorted power transformer. Since I'm getting no help from them, I'm looking for either a schematic (to figure transformer specs) or info on a replacement. I'm thinking about finding something elsewhere. I know that Mercury Magnetics has replacements, but looking for something maybe a bit less pricy. Any info is appreciated.

I am aware of the AT100.
    What's the 'X' do different?

To tell you the truth, I really don't know and haven't studied either that well. Nor do I have schematics. I did contact MM and they shot me a pretty good deal on their drop in replacement. It's probably going to be cheaper than the factory original from what I've read on the web. I've given the customer an estimate and we'll see what he says.

In my searches I came across an ad saying something about "new and improved transformers" or something of the sort. Apparently, not so much.

I had an AT100 with a shorted output transformer.

        I bought a 100 dollar Hammond.

And yeah, zero response from the Team At B52.

I checked out that schematic and it's a bit different. The amp I have (the 'X') has a solid state rectifier only. It's possible that the same iron might work. I just wouldn't use the tap for the tube rectifier filament. Do you remember what Hammond you used? I'm not going to waste too much more time on the thing until I hear from the customer. He may not want to fix it anyway. I do thank you for your efforts.

Still battling this amp. On my second transformer from Mercury. The first one they sent was the wrong one. The replacement I got today- the hole alignment/spacing is not even close, which is odd since I sent them the original transformer to build from. I guess I'll have to re-drill the chassis. Not to be a pest, but does anyone have a schematic for this thing?

Thank you much pontiacpete, but the "X" version is quite a bit different. I do appreciate your efforts, though.

Well, I got the thing running the old fashioned way and just traced out the circuits myself. An FYI for others: Mercury now has replacements for the ATX100 PT. As far as wiring, pretty much identical to the original near as I can tell. They do require some chassis drilling. The mounting holes do not line up. Thanks to all who tried to help.
