Polytone problem...

Did you get to the power amp to see if anything was loose there?

I took everything out of the cabinet and cleaned the connections. I found a small screw and nut on the bottom of the amp, i looked around and it seemed like one of the screws that is used to hold the heat dissipator to the power amp chassis (2 of the 4 looks like has been replaced at some point). One of my guesses was that the other screw nut that has been replaced is loose somewhere between the board and the power amp chassis but i didn't go so deep in taking apart the power amp unit. I would go deeper and take apart the power unit, but i'm not familiar with uncharging the power capacitors..do i need to do it on a SS amp?

Anyway, same thing this morning, i turned it on and the crackle was there. Thumped it on the top and it was gone....
