    Chuck I'm sure youre right. Im replacing just the insulation board to start. $2 from Hoffman. If that doesn't at least help gonna suggest the customer go with turrets.

      Don't just replace it, FIND OUT. If you think that under-board is involved, just take the nuts off the part board and raise it up off the other board enough they no longer touch. Does that change anything electronically? If so, the board is involved, but if not, then a new one probably won't make a difference. Find out.

        Troubleshoot first and determine the cause of the problem. Then determin the appropriate fix.

          In a previous post I had said i DID lift the eyelet board and it reduced the crackling. so I know if anything that a new iso board will indeed help. Dont think hiss and hum will be gone though. Standby, waiting on board.

            Something else to look for are under board wires that run too close to eyelets, solder blobs or bugs that crawled between the board and died. I have found all those problems. One of them would come and go as the parts board screws were loosened and tightened.

              Ive fixed the sandwiched wire issue in many an amp. Those are definitely culprits.
