  • Problem with Univox U130L

Hi, I'm new to the forum, and I'm hoping that someone can help me with an old SS head I picked up recently.

I just picked up a 1974 Univox U130L rig on my local CL for an insanely low price, and I would love to say that I couldn't be happier with it. Well, I can't be happier with how it sounds, but that's only when it's actually making sounds.

The problem is that after ten or fifteen minutes of playing, it shuts itself off, apparently through some built-in shut off mechanism. There is a little red button on the back labeled "ESP", and when I press it, the amp comes back on, sometimes for another couple of minutes, and sometimes for a split second. If I let the amp sit for ten minutes or so, I can get another couple of songs in, and then I'm back to it cutting out again. Obviously, this is no good for a live setting!

So my question is: Does anybody here have a wiring schematic of this amp, or possibly know where I could find one? The only reference I found to it was here, but the link to the PDF (for the similar U200L) was dead.

I really love the amp, but I need it to work, dangit! I've done some light-duty wiring in the past, but I've never messed with an amp before. Any advice would be well appreciated!

Thanks, g1! After I posted this, I found the schematics request thread, and someone there was able to get me the U130L diagrams, so I'm all set!
