  • Carvin X100 speaker fuse

Today a Carvin X100 combo came in for repair. Just basic maintenance nothing major.

While I was cleaning jacks and switches, I noticed a speaker fuse. Standard size panel mount fuse holder. The cap would not turn, so I started to remove the holder nut and then I realized, this is a 100 watt tube amp. Why does this have a speaker fuse?

I'm planning to just remove the holder and wire the impedance switch directly to the output jacks.

Finally, an exception to the rule "never put in a larger value fuse", maybe just give it the tin-foil treatement?
They don't show it on the schematic I have. I've read they also put them in the 4x12 cabs for these amps.
