Crate VC3112 clean channel noise

I have one these in right now. The customer's complaint is the clean channel is noisier than the drive channel. Seems to me that this is an illusion due to the position of the respective volume controls and when they're truly equal the noise is about the same on both channels. There doesn't appear to be a fault. Has anyone got experience of this particular amp?

That sort of complaint happens all the time. Not much different from the complaint that such and such amp is louder on 3 than so and so amp is on 5. people don't understand the numbers on the control are only there so you have a reference point, they do not refer to circuit parameters.
