Thought I would post this....It might help somebody out....I had a few Orion lasers to repair I believe they are called ORLASER8...anyway, the units I had would not fire up....but the light in the power switch would light....After a bit of poking around I came to the conclusion that the power control IC was bad....If you heated it with say a heat gun or hair dryer, the unit would work...then I used freeze spray and very carefully hit the components in the power supply....when I hit this IC, the unit shut down...if I laid my soldering iron tip on the body it would start up....the chip is a TOP115........searched everywhere for a data sheet...couldn't find one.....and couldn't find the chips in any of the normal suppliers here in North America.....Found them in China....Took 2.5 months to get them...10 IC chips for less than $10 US and free shipping...When I received them, I installed them and got all three lasers working fine.....
Cheers......
P.S. I guess this could apply to any power supply that uses this particular IC.....
