Well, gremlins. As I mentioned, I gave up, and zipped the amp back together. I let it sit for a day, then plugged it in just now to verify function. Reverb is working! WTH. I turned the amp on it's head, beat it against the floor, no problem.

You must have inadvertently fixed it. The reverb in these amps is reported to be thin and weak (I looked into it
) So maybe that's what your bench tests actually showed. What you're hearing then is what you tested.?. and was considered "acceptable" by Roland for this amp.?. Call it a win

After reading and understanding (!) your description of what the tank does to the signal, I stopped testing with the scope and used my ears. So, no, the reverb wasn't working at all until I reassembled the amp into it's combo cabinet. And the reverb is now quite nice, actually. The three-spring Accutronics tank sounds quite nice, not thin or weak at all.Comment
