Vintage Central Scientific Co Rheostat Cenco 44 Homs 3 1 Amps Project or Lab | eBay

    Tested and working

Mount it on a piece of stained oak with brass flat head screws. Be the envy of all who see it I would get this, but I'm sort of full up with stuff. Pretty cool if you can use it!

I know a guy who lives in a castle with a helper called Igor that could use a few of those...

I prefer the ghetto meth lab look of the 14kW Big Dummy Load:

If needed, we have a huge 20kw switchable load at work.

Looks like a space heater with a bunch of coils.

Aside from my 16ohm Hotplate I have several of the typical brown "dynamite" stick 4 and 8 ohm loads mounted to metal plates with 14" jacks and some with alligator clips.

In the mid 80s I ordered a large UPS system to run an automonous computer systems room for the local newspaper. All Royal Navy equipment bought new. At that time UPS systems were pretty rare in the UK. Then we wondered how to test it annually under load to get the discharge curve and autonomy plot. We came up with the idea of buying dozens of 3Kw electric fires to give a predictable, cheap and consistent load.

That place got pretty hot when that test was being done.

After seeing this thread I ordered one of these but not from this seller. I already have a couple of adjustable dummy loads, but this one will be able to handle a much higher wattage.

              Thanks for the link Chuck.

                Oh no!
You don't get to post that picture without details!

                Real? Fake?

                Either way it's awesome
