Fender Deluxe 112 bad signal after replacing tip142 & tip147

Well. Yes. Brilliant. I got the 2.4vdc across the bases of the Darlingtons. So, I thought I'd plug my guitar in and have a blast. And the sound is all there, and loud!!!
May be a tiny buz behind it, but I'm sure an amp of that age is going to a bit.
So, whats the job of cr9-12 exactly?

Yes. It will give you exactly the same readings. So there's really no point. That's why you need to order some replacements. I'd caution against getting dubious ones off eeeBay as the voltage drop is critical to performance. Buy them from a major vendor e.g. Farnell/ digikey / Mouser depending on where in the world you are.

Oh, and I'd replace all four. Just in case the others have suffered partial damage and as they are cheap.

I just realised you were talking about CR9-12 and not the other. Silly me. Yes, it will work without CR9-12 but I would not recommend it other than for a test, after all they are there to protect. Anyway, I see you did that and it's working - super!

Please note that those four diodes are two different kinds, not all four the same.

Glad you said that. I had only posted that those zeners were available on Mouser...cause I was trying to find out their zener voltage. But I shouldve added that those other two are regular diodes.
