Thanks lowell, maybe I can try the tubes one after another until they're all in while in standby?

USUALLY....it's a power tube that does it. Honestly can't say Ive ever seen a preamp tube take out the heaters. I'm sure it does happen though. Check continuity on the power tubes before reinstalling....or better yet just put a new pair in there. Judging by the look of that Pin5 trace they potentially red plated or arced anyways. But you can check contuinity from pins 2 or 7 to all other pins. I've done this with solid results.

        clinkous:

If a bad tube caused or contributed to the problem it was probably replaced long before you ever saw the amp. I would assume that the burnt Molex plug was from the snowball effect of a poor connection. (If the problem were to recur then I would investigate the problem more thoroughly.)

        Good luck!

P.S. I always dreamed about getting a Maverick after playing one in the late 90's and finally found a head at a reasonable price a few years ago. It wasn't as perfect as I remembered so I figured out how to rewire the clean channel as a Lone Star which was a big improvement. I even came up with a plan to rewire the OD channel preamp as an SLO but never got around to actually doing the mod...

Head seems to be fixed now. I ended up cutting a small butt connector in half and using one piece for each heater wire. I crimped the wire to the pin and soldered it after. I tried to solder each wire directly to each pin but just was not able to get it done in a presentable fashion. Probably just operator deficiency but it was rough.

I put heat shrink tubing around the wire and connections and didn't shrink it thinking that it would let me know if anything was getting hot by shrinking itself. So far so good.

Amp plays fine through #1 input on both channels. Nothing from jack #2 yet but I've run out of time today.

Thanks to all for your help and suggestions, I'm very grateful.
