Did you try out the neon tester? It's real cheap and handy.

I went through my parts and could only find one neon bulb. I actually got out my variable D.C. power supply wired everything up, but it didn't seem to work. I agree, it looks like a good thing to have. I'll try again later to rig one up. After checking things again, I figured the o.t. was the only thing left, everything else looked good. I appreciate your help on this one, g1.

You may have to play around with the resistor value in the neon tester. And you need a nice sharp "switch off" to get the inductive kick. Try to get it running on the good OT.
