Hello, looking to learn a lot and contribute when I can help. Ive done probably 30 hours of personal study on amps. I've got experience in guitar wiring. BIG point!---> I'm looking forward to getting hands on in my amp. I want to do it safely above all else! Perhaps someone can point me to a great online read of the various risks.
I've got a 68 Pro Reverb with AA165 schematic, supposedly. I've had it for 10 years. Great late amp maker in town revived it, so I believed it's been 'blackfaced'. So far I've pulled V1 and disconnected 1 of the 2x12 speakers. (Stock config. Sounded great, volume lv10 was best but insane volumes. With the newer config. Great tone at 5-6, but past 7 the amp gets unwanted fizz breaking through. Anyways, I want to start jumping in the amp, I figured a start would be- change filter caps(stock spec/or more tweedish), check bias. I am of the assumption that both of these repairs are very dangerous. I've seen all the steps, but still this is all theoritical at this point.
Thanks for listening and any advise,
Dalton
