  • Ampeg BA115 Transistor Replacement?

I have shorted output transistors on my BA115 that I will be replacing.

I also want to replace MPSA06, MJE340 & MJE350. MJE340 & MJE350 have a heat sink on them. How do these heat sinks attach and come off?

    See image attached.

    Thank you, Mark

You just pull them off (carefully in order not to destroy the PC board). You may put a screwdriver inside the heatsink to make the task easier.

Yeah I double that one... Be very careful pulling those off while they are still soldered onto the PCB. Actually unsolder each one and attempt to remove them first to be even safer. My thinking is the heat sinks slip on easier in one direction and almost lock up the other way. So remove them then by pushing from the bottom of the transistor(where the pins are) so that the top pushes outward from the heat sink and see if that is any easier.
When the going gets weird... The weird turn pro!

I removed the transistors from the board with the heat sinks attached. Then used a flat blade screwdriver to push them out, they came out easy in one direction.

        Thank you!
