I have a baked 'n tossed out the window 5e3 amplifier.
AC cord insulation baked through and shorted, I replaced that.
Amp fires up, so far it's 'working'.
Further testing postponed until I can hopefully find the 'safety' trick...something in the tube rectifier [fuse or diode?] which would keep possible damage from a shorting output transformer from reaching in and smoking up other expensive components toward the middle or front of the amp.
It's a Hammond 125E OT which came with a 5e3 kit, I'm wondering 'where' the coil is that I have the 8ohm tap connected to, if it is an outside coil, it got baked harder than if it is an inside coil, which would be somewhat more protected.
