Searched the net for this but couldn't find anything....Trying to locate a schematic for this if possible....this one has no power, battery up full but the owner was using an AC adapter with it...It calls for 9V center positive....so he might have fried something....would be nice to get a look at the schematic just to size it up first......
    Cheers

Isn't that a clone of the Klon Centaur?

And doesn't it use the standard Boss type adapter with center negative?

I am not sure about the clone thing.....It is the first time I have seen one of these....It is supposed to take a dc adapter.....the one the owner had with the unit is an AC one...it is not DC....and yes..it is center negative....I just hooked up a bench supply with current control...there is something shorted....it is drawing a lot of current so something is shorted.....the adapter that was with is is an AC style adapter.....so god only knows what parts are bad.....

If it wants -9v center, and you put AC on it, the same damage occurs as if you put +9 on it. After all, the -9 side of the AC would simply work, while th +9 side of the AC would act like any other +9 supply. Look where power enters th c=board for maybe a diode that has shorted. Like every Boss pedal in the world.

It looks like it requires 9.6V DC power supply with a center negative plug: EHX.com | Soul Food - Distortion/Fuzz/Overdrive | Electro-Harmonix
I don't think that this is a clone.

            Trust me.
Find a schematic for the Klon Centaur or the many clones available.
            I've built a few.

EH made their own and I believe some people have a schematic for it.

Check the dc input and protection diodes.
They probably got blown by wrong supply as Enzo mentioned.

Ok. Thanks. I'll check for the clone schematic....and thanks to both you and Enzo.....

Ok. I found a clone schematic. There is a zener diode....1N4742 that is shorted.....dead short...so if you take it out of the ckt the unit should power up??? I just tried that and still nothing....I am going to do another current monitoring test just to see if the excessive draw is gone.....but it is possible more parts are bad.....I will have to dig a bit deeper............
                Cheers

Resistor in series with that shorted zener is a good candidate for open circus. Typically there's a cap parallel to the zener as well, if it was subjected to reverse voltage may be kaput. These components regulate power the circuit sees, and act as a sort of fuse should incoming power arrive reversed polarity or in AC form. Lots of pedals have them. Let's hope that's all there is to it, often that's the case.

If it's not the input protection or power supply, wrong voltage usually fries the opamps.

Bandmate cooked all three chips in his phase 90 recently from wrong power supply.

You're lucky - the Soul Food (and other close Klon clones) use a DC-DC converter to double the 9v supply voltage, and that could have fried as well if the Zener didn't blow first.
