  • Peavey Heritage vtx 2x12 question

    Hi all.
I am fixing a Peavey Heritage vtx 2x12 and in the power section before the tubes I found two transistors that do not match with the schematic.

Schematic says a couple of 2n6465 and I found MJ15022. Does anyone knows the correct one?
Any picture Of the plate to check it?

I saw that it has some previous work on it so I dont know if they was changed.

    Thanks from Spain

As the 2N6465 is not readily available, the MJ15022 is a valid substitute.

A little overkill on some of the specifications (higher voltage and current capability).
Still, a valid sub in my book.

      Martin....

If I am not mistaken, the Peavey Semiconductor Cross Reference list shows the MJ4247 as SJ-6465 (70406465) NPN Tube Driver Replacement.

      Specs for the MJ4247: IC(A) = 8, VCBO(V) = 120, VCEO(V) = 120, PD(W) = 90, Package = TO-3, HFE(Min/Max) = 40, IC/VCE(A/V) = 0.1/2.0, VCE(SAT)(V) = 0.5, ic / IB(A/mA) = 1.0/100

The MJ15022 (http://www.newark.com/pdfs/datasheets/SSI/10P1534.pdf) has a Collector Emitter Voltage V(br)ceo: 200V with the DC Collector Current: 16A- most likely an "overkill" for this application (but it should work).

      Anyone else?
It's not just an amp, it's an adventure!

So the original one was replaced with a much better one

        But the mystery question is:

        1) are the replacements working?

        2) what are you actually trying to solve?
        What are the symptoms?

Hi again and thanks you all.

The PDF from Peavey is a good Info to try the suggested compatible transistor.

I was worried about kill some tubes using the MJ15022, do you think it is dangerous or only a little bit too much forma this situación?

I am still fixing it but came to live, still dirty pots and no reverb can found.

          Cheers

As a substitute, the MJ15022 will not hurt the circuit at all.

              Hi.

It had one 1k5 resistor open for one 6v6 tube, and one MJ15022 short from the too Of them. 1A fuse blown.

I tried 2k and one MJ15024 to test.

It sounds back with the temporary components, I must change them for correct values and go on cleaning pot and look fot the missing reverb tank.

              Thanks

(Sorry. I posted into a second thread I m affraid)
