Crate MX65R repair - Parts Q

Complete newbie Q - the Level knob on the control panel seems defective. meaning, it cuts in and out of distortion to clean sound.

I thought i'd just swap out that rheostat switch (I imagine that's what it amounts to, yes ?), but have no idea what spec's to use to find one, or even where to find and order one.
and if you can read that schematic with that tiny print, you're a far better man than I !! I got no help from that.

i'm hoping someone here will be able to name what I need and maybe steer me as to who sells this stuff -- thanks v much for your help and time.

As far as I can tell the Level potentiometer is a 10K ohm, Log (A) taper.

I would call LoudTech & ask if they have one.

yeah, it's a very blurry schematic all right ! even so, after studying it i'm pretty sure i would've needed to take a couple of courses to know what i was looking at -- if i could've seen it ! <s>

so thx a million for your take and suggestion ! i'll contact LOUD. (i don't think Monoprice carries this sort of thing - although they're lowest price for cables etc - but i'll talk to them too.)

i'll reply when things move ahead, just so you'll know - seems the least i can do.

Have you tried cleaning it?

Pots (this is a "potentiometer") are held together by little metal tabs bent over. SOmetimes something smacks the pot shaft and pushes out the back. So look closely and see if the pot looks "sprung" compared to the others. If so, you can probably squeeze it back tight with pliers.

The part number should be printed right on the part. The number will look like 70-153-23, that will be the format. ANd that is what to ask for if you need one.

You can find electrically equivalent things in the market, but pots are all made custom for the amp makers, so you want the real Crate part if you want the knobs to fit and the legs to fit the circuit board.

it's actually a friend's amp , so i don't have it here and haven't opened the amp yet to look at it or clean it. seems obvious that's the thing to try 1st, and i will.
(i hope that would'v occurred to me when i opened the amp - i really Hope so, but i can't guarantee it ! <s> )

also great to know how to find the part #, and that just any pot won't fit right. i'll assume that means that if i Do need a pot i ought to contact Crate directly for it.
