Marshall 5005 Sound Problems

Amp has no or very little sound, if I turn all the knobs up and fiddle with the eventually it plays at max volume but if I touch ANY knob i lose it again and have to fiddle with the volume again. Pulled it apart and don't see any problems. If it was a Volume switch problem why would any knob mess up the sound?

Plug and unplug something into the headphone jack a dozen or so times to see if that clears the problem.
