  • Fender '65 Twin RI crackling

This amp crackles intermittently on low notes. It's not related to vibration. I've tried all new tubes. I re-soldered all of the quick disconnect spades on the PCB, and tightened the quick disconnect female connectors. Anyone had this issue with these amps too? Any ideas? I'm about to re-solder every solder point in the amp. Could a standby switch cause this? Sometimes it crackles right out of standby.

Try to narrow down the problem area - what effect do the controls have on the problem, in particular reverb level, normal vol and vibrato vol?
Experience is something you get, just after you really needed it.

      RF7 -

If you have time, do a Google Search on "Fender Twin 65 Reissue Crackling" or swap out "Crackling" with "Static." There are some posts out there with some checklist of things to look at. Here is one such post from Gearslut.com.

I think I found a couple threads that talk about the Carbon resistors on the plates and how these are problematic. Just an idea...

And here is the schematic that I have for the 65 Reissue.
