  • Vox AD50VT no sound ?

Hey folks, I have a Vox AD50VT Valvetronix with no sound. Powers up, tube works, fuse is good. Owner said it went dead ,and he then tried an external cabinet which he says worked for a couple of hours then quit. All the solder joints look good. I even went over them. What I DID fine was the phone/line jack will not take a plug. I see from a diagram I found that when this is used it mutes the speaker? I'm guessing this could be the issue. Can this be bypassed if I can't fix it?

    Thanks all !

Do you mean that you can't insert a plug into this jack? Is there a broken plug end inside the jack?

I have a AD60VTX that had (has?) a similar problem: after using the headphone out jack - which mutes the speakers - and then removing the headphone plug, the speakers did not come back to life. After a certain amount of working on the problem the speakers work now. I have not yet considered trying the headphone jack again.

So I think you're on the right track, get the jack cleaned up or bypass whatever functions you need to get the speakers working again.

Obviously your debugging skills are second to none
Experience is something you get, just after you really needed it.
