  • Bolts......Argh! Bugera V22

So loading into the club Saturday night I noticed six 2" long bolts laying loose under my V22. I didn't have time, light, tools, eyesight, or patience to deal with it so I just set up and played... 5 sets. Didn't notice anything. Finally got around to unloading (I'm old) and checking the amp today and realized that 6 of the screws holding the speaker baffle in had fallen out. So.... I screwed them back in and realized just about every other screw was loose, lol! I'm lucky the thing didn't fall apart! I love this cheap ass little amp and have been clubbing with it about once a week for a year and a half. But those of you using or know someone that uses one should be aware of this problem. I still have 2 of the same sized screws that I found in the truck a week ago and didn't connect the dots. I don't see a spot for them. Will probably have to pull the chassis to figure it out.... But not today. It works. Ronnie...

    Ouch !!!
Are they actual bolts (used with nuts) or screws (straight into wood)?
    Please post picture.

If bolts, search for nuts jumping around inside the chassis, all over the place and ready to short hundreds of volts; if screws insert toothpicks in wood holes before replacing so they have something to bite on.

Fix bolts to nuts when reattaching with a small drop of nail polish (Passion Red improves scorching solos )

This is typical for all amps that come in after a few years of service, like Fender HRDx. ALL fasteners need tightening, even the front baffle ones, which are machine screws with locking washers!

My question is, why did yours all decide to jump ship at the same time?!? Riot!

Yup, loose speakers, chassis, you name it.

        Even on my own amps!

Try lock washers or non permanent loctite.

Well... I run this amp on an amp stand usually cranked and boosted, so I'm sure it wiggles a bit. Honestly, I think the torque was set wrong at assembly. And theses are bolts with those "Spur nuts" or whatever they are called. Also the cab is MDF. The amp is heavier than it needs to be. The MDF might shrink as it out gasses over time. But for $249 plus no tax and free shipping..... I'll use it all day and tighten the screws every sis months!
