Had a client bring in a DSL201 that had been to another shop where the tech installed a second speaker jack tapped directly off the unused 8 ohm terminal of the OT, the 16 ohm still connected directly to the internal 16 ohm speaker. The customer is now able to connect an additional 8 ohm external speaker while still using the internal 16 ohm load. I'm thinking this is not advisable, any thoughts?

It definitely will not provide the proper matching used that way. When both taps are used at the same time like that, neither will be their stated value anymore.
It would be better if the ext. spkr. was also 16ohm, and both were connected to the 8 ohm tap.
The way it is set up now, he should only use one or the other at a time.Originally posted by EnzoI have a sign in my shop that says, "Never think up reasons not to check something."
