  • Crate GLX65: Totally shot.. Help? =\

A while ago I let my friend borrow my amp. When he returned it, the solo channel squeaked and buzzed like feedback with the volume all the way up [God, could wake the freakin neighbors, I tell you..], but lifting the gain knob or surrounding knobs fixed that. [Didn't work though, you have to actually hold it in place.. Hard to do while playing guitar..]

Now it's the same with the Rhythm channel, and all I have left is a clean channel... I like playing the clean channel, don't get me wrong, but I'm missing like 75% of the amps functionality right now.

Anyone know what it could possibly be? Or what I could do to fix this?

[Oh and by the way: yes, I am severely pissed at my friend]

We do equipment rental here and most guitar amps that come back inop, come back with damaged input jacks or cracked pots. Replace any control that changes the sound when you wiggle it. Knob probably got bashed in transportation.

I agree. Check for a bad connection or a broken pot in the pre-amps. This is a common problem with all PC mounted pots on guitar amps.
