  • Leaking electrolyte fluid or something else?

    Hello folks:

    Is the gunk on the V3 cathode bypass cap in the attached pic electrolyte fluid or something else? You can also see some on the V1 cathode cap. This is from a 1976 Fender Vibrolux Reverb. Thanks.

    To me, it looks like a blob of the wax that was used on Fender eyelet parts boards in that time frame.

        Thank you. I thought something like that might be the case. The amp sounds pretty good and was untouched other than someone adding a line-out for some reason. I've removed the line-out and changed the filter caps and bias supply cap, but I thought I'd hold off on the cathode caps for now if I could.
