  • Need Two Knobs For National Glenwood 90 Amp

Apologies for the unusual post but getting a bit desperate. I picked up a basket case National Glenwood a few years back, literally in pieces, that I had a new OT built for and finally got around to completing it. Sounds great but I'm missing two of the knobs and can't find them anywhere. These are the larger diameter black knobs with chrome half moon hub caps and a set screw. Just doesn't look right without all the knobs matching. Hoping one of the long time amp vets can help a brother out and point me in the right direction or check their parts drawer? Happy to work something out with you. I missed a set about 8 months ago on flea bay, haven't seen another since.

You could replace the set to make it all match

Ouch, big ugly knobs. I have a large knob collection, but none like that.

Wouldn't be original, but a new set of Fender or similar skirt knobs with numbers would look smart.

Thanks, those are close at 25mm, but I need 1.5" in diameter. Really prefer old and original.

You don't see many Glenwoods around, or other National models using these larger knobs but I'm hoping I get lucky.

Alternatively, I'm wondering if I could make a couple or have them made?

Not my amp on reverb, just grabbed a quick picture off the web for illustration. I'm in the midwest, that amp is in the UK but its the same model amp and close in years.

Look up knob manufacturers, Rogan comes to mind, but also Rean and many others, and see if their general catalogs contain something close.

Back in the day we used to call those "stove" knobs, because they reminded us of the knobs found on cooking stoves.

I used to see similar knobs carried by hardware stores and appliance parts shops. Maybe try those sources.

A while back a friend brought over his bass guitar for something, and he had no knobs on it. So we found some actual stove knobs and stuck them on it as a gag. he kept them on it for years. The knobs said "high, medium, low, simmer".

If you do decide to have some made, I believe there are antique radio guys that will clone knobs from samples. It's pricey.

They were used on the Supro Big Star, as well as a few others. If that helps at all
