  • MesaBoogie Lonestar Special part ID

Can anyone help ID a burnt part on a Lonestar Special.
On the main PCB board, marked on board as R104. seems to be an Ohmit wirewound resistor. Meter reading is .3 ohms. Markings on the item are hard to read but what does show is 23???8R.
I'm flying without a schematic at the moment.
The amp has a power tube w/hard short. I like to be sure the ckts are good before putting in a new set.
Rectifier is good. (JAN5Y3 black plate).
Need to know value & wattage.
    Any help is appreciated.

Show us on the pic which resistor you're talking about.
I had one with burnt resistor for repair couple of years ago maybe it's the same one.
By the way most of the time you can find the part value written under the part itself.

      Hi,
      68 ohm 1Watt. Cathode resistor in 30 W mode.
      Cheers,
      John
Don't forget to remove the two 470 ohm resistors R101,R103 (official Boogie mod)

Hey thanks guys for the fast reply. Here's a pic of the part in question. [The red arrow]. It's under the ribbon cable, shown lifted here.
John G. thanks for the mod upgrade, on that mod, it's just yankin those two 470 ohm resistors? No replacement or jumper?

          Jack,
I believe that the two 470 ohm resistors are REMOVED.
This drops the current draw for the EL84 pair. This helps to preserve some o/p tube longevity.
These resistors are ??? not fitted to later versions.
As for R104 I would up the wattage to 2 Watt or higher if it will fit.
          Cheers,
          John

I know it's an older thread, but I'm bumping it because it comes up in searches.

The resistor in question is R104 and is 68ohm.
