    +1 on fixing the original fault.

    If you had a 4-cylinder car that was running lean and it had a single carb, would installing 4 carbs be a good way to fix it?

    Whenever you modify a circuit you have a chance of introducing a new fault, making a mistake or obfuscating the original fault, making further diagnosis even more difficult.

          Do what Enzo said. I recently went through my entire stock of 6L6 pulls in that way - one in the amp at a time. With no changes in the bias pot, current readings varied from IIRC 15ma to 55ma (I marked each one). With that info, I was able to make a bunch of good pairs. This sure will make it a lot easier to find what I need the next time I have one of a pair or quad crap out (and to figure out if my problem with an amp is the amp or the tubes).
