  • Capacitor I D

There is a small ceramic disc capacitor that was destroyed on the JK PCB from a Roland JC120 that I am repairing. It is labeled C102 on that board schematic labeled as "15P". Is that considered a 15 pf? Now the print on the cap itself had 15J stamped on it. Is the "J" a tolerance rating? I need to order the correct one so is this a 15 pf and at what voltage should it be for this circuit based on the schematic?

It's not critical. It looks like is there to keep that stage stable or a bit of RF suppression. Most 15pF ceramics will have a NP0 dielectric, 5% or 10% will be fine. Don't sweatyk it

Experience is something you get, just after you really needed it.

So this is more of a low voltage application. I have a 50V cap and that should be fine to use?

          Yes that will be fine.

            Thanks nickb!

This has been a result of some physical damage to this amp. I have taken several pics from the start and plan to post a thread showing my process from beginning to the end once I have completed it and it's working. It will be titled "Roland JC120 pcb repair"....or something like that

I see a few cracks in the PCB . I suspect the 15pF is the least of your problems...

All of the cracks have already been addressed. This board was brought to me in 3 pieces. It has been bonded together and traces reconnected.
