  • Rectifier question

I have a homebrew 6v6 amp in that appears to be a Deluxe Reverb, but with a presence control and brite switches (that don't work). It came in with a non-functioning 5Y3 rectifier. The Fender schematic calls for a GZ34. An RCA 5Y3 puts out 430v B+, a new JJ 5Y3 puts out 425v. A couple of GZ34's I tried put out 460v. The schematic calls for 420v.

Is it safe to replace the 5Y3 with another, since it runs at safer voltages. Are there any current considerations I need to be concerned with?
It's weird, because it WAS working fine.....

I see no reason you couldn't stay with the 5Y3. Filament current is similar enough to the GZ34.
