  • Univox 1085 pa power tubes

    This amp appears to use 4 6L6s.. The schematic doesn't indicate that but a little research has shown that others have these amps with 6L6s in them . The problem is that the amp has 690v on the plates. Is this a job for 5881 or NOS 6L6s? Or is it wired to class c (or is that B)like musicman amps? or is it because they are in parrallel?
    any thoughts/ advice?

    They get away with that by dramatically reducing the screen grid voltage. I fixed the guitar version of that amp a few years ago and used Sovtek 5881s with no problems.

    Others here will have opinions as to what should work.

      Everything has a context, looking at only the plate voltage on a tube ignores its context. As Bill says, your screens are running at half of the plate voltage.

        Sovtek 5881s are also what I'd choose.
