  • Shocking chassis

Got a real Vibroverb here. Was lightly nipping me. Has 2 prong cord. I stopped immediately and measured. Got 130vAC on the chassis referenced to earth. I clipped out the death cap and now have 220Vac.

What gives? Just curious. And yes I'm first replacing the cord before continuing. I also measured DC resistance from mains hot and neutral to chassis. No reading, OL, at 6M range. Checked secondaries and the readings seemed normal. Filament and HT are center tapped.

have you tried flipping the AC plug 180 degrees?

      That^^^

      That would make a difference.

Without a chassis ground through the powr cord, the chassis can assume a charge with respect to ground and have no way to drain it off.
Education is what you're left with after you have forgotten what you have learned.
