  • Realistic MPA-20 PA amp, how to reattach thermistors

    Hi,

I just picked up a Realistic MPA-20 PA amp. After cleanup it looks and works fine. I will be replacing the old electrolytics.

The only thing I can see wrong with it is that a couple of thermistors have come loose from the case. Originally there was a strip of tape on the case and the thermistors were glued to the tape. What kind of stuff do I need to refasten these thermistors?

    Thanks, Jeff

I'm assuming this is an SS amp. Case or heat sink? If it's a heat sink just drill a hole and use a sheet metal screw with a washer and some heat sink compound. If you have no ripple, don't bother with the caps, it's probably fine.

Yes this is a SS amp. There are two thermistors and they were glued with some kind of rubbery adhesive to a strip of tape that was stuck onto the case. At some point the tape came loose from the case. There are no mounting holes on the thermistors, they are just a 1/4" disc.

I do like the idea of screwing them to the case though. I think I will glue the thermistors to a chunk of aluminum with thermal adhesive and screw that whole mess to the case.
