    So I ordered the parts,MJ15022g & pre driver MPS6531, Mouser had them in stock....I'll let you know what happens? Thx to all for the replies..

      Just a note, the 6530 are not predrivers, they are limiters. Look at the circuit. When current exceeds a certain level through the tubes and drive transistors, the voltage across the 3 ohm resistors rises enough to turn on the 6530. That conducts and pulls down on the base of the drive transistor. That reduces drive and thus current. You could remove the 6530 and the amp would still function.

            More problems? It has a constant hum. It's the B+ going to the output board. I have saw tooth wave from the power supply board. It only starts up when the tubes conduct. I replaced the pwr supply caps & diodes, still no change. Quite a large saw tooth formation still, I disconnected the feedback to see if that was introducing the signal/hum... no change. Checked the power tubes for shorts, they're OK. I'm about out of ideas. suggestions?
