    These are called snubber caps; their purpose is to smooth out voltage transients.

    I think Marshall abandoned that design feature really fast.

      in post #3 schematic, theres a cap under the 5 amp fuse...it looks like it says 05 uf ? mine has this and i cant read the value--its actually a bit melted !

      is that cap necessary ? Is it a .05uf ?

        Melted, like maybe someone touched it with the side or their soldering iron while soldering nearby? That is the grounding cap on the power wiring, and if the cap were shorted, you'd blow fuses.

        It is a 0.05uf.
        Education is what you're left with after you have forgotten what you have learned.

          yea, i just wanted to be sure the value...possible solder iron wounds---i will replace it ,
