  • Marshall JCM800 4010 Recap and board access?

I am ordering a recap set from tubes and more. Wondering how to get to the cap located under the board. Do I have to lift the board or would I be able to get to the connectors from the top side? The kits includes (2) 10uf 150V caps which must be on the board so I will need to get the underside of the board anyway.

I removed the nuts from the six standoffs holding the board in place, I can only lift the board slightly due to all the connected wires. How does one usually work on this board, do you have to remove all the pots and jacks from the front panel to get there? Seems like there should be a simple way to access everything and I wanted to ask before doing something unnecessary.

    Thank you

The filter cap for the preamp can be easily accessed by loosening the clamp and pulling up from the top.
    The wires are long enough.

For the bias filter caps I can usually get away with removed the shortest wires to the board so it can be tilted enough to replace the caps.
I have an angled soldering iron tip which helps.

For some things you need to just take the time and remove the pots for greater access, unfortunately.
