  • Amp Jet J12T beating tremolo

I cannot find the right schematic for this J-12T amp. There is 2/3 of the paper one on the back panel, but the part I need is gone. I recapped it and it sounds good, and the tremolo works except that it thumps with no input. The volume makes it louder when turned up to the point of sounding like an idling Harley when full up. The first 6BK11 tube is the oscillator, and it looks like this one is bad as it is rings and microphonic if installed in the V2 preamp position. I subbed one from my stash, and it made the thump a lot less, but still noticeable with the Vol up at 7 - 10.

I wonder if these amps have this trait as normal? All the caps in the tremolo section have been replaced, as well as the .22 that feeds back to the grid of V2. I don't really understand how this term works.

Sorry I don't have the proper schematic, all the J-12T's are really re-issues from the mid 90's so they are no help.
It's weird, because it WAS working fine.....

Maybe the part you need is like this one?

To a large degree, I suppose it is. Many value differences, however.

        Hey Randall,

Is your Jet a blue check, or one of the "Golden Glo" models? And does it have an eyelet board or an early PCB? I'm just curious, cuz I have a J12D myself. I don't know that I've ever seen a schem for a J12-T proper...
